I offer consultation services for concerns related to aging and cognition for people seeking support for themselves, their parents or as a family. These sessions often include coaching, education, and recommendations.
Supporting each other through aging can be a daunting and fulfilling experience depending on how you approach each other and the situations that arise. From big picture decisions to small day-to-day situations, navigating aging can be overwhelming, but there are many things you can do to make it an experience that is less daunting and more fulfilling.
The most valuable thing I’ve learned from older adults and their families about navigating aging is to prioritize relationships and work together. Without that, all the things that arise become more difficult. That is why tending to relational needs is at the core of my work..
For aging parents, this could mean recognizing the care and concern your children have while advocating for yourself and your desires.
For children of aging parents, this could mean learning how to communicate your desire to keep your parents safe and healthy while supporting their decisions even when they conflict with what you think is best for them.
For siblings of aging parents, this could mean learning how to work together and support each other especially when the unexpected occurs.
